Skin care seems to never go out of style. Aren’t we bored of hearing about skin care products yet? Why is it that the world can never get enough of skin care adverts and skin care vlogs? I think I know the answer. Taking care of our skin will never go out of fashion, because it is more than a routine. It helps us feel confident, healthier and in control.
I have experimented over the years with different products, some being winners and some being failures. A lot of my experience has been trial and error. For me, finding the right products for your skin can feel like a breathe of fresh air.
My skin doesn’t agree with all beauty products. Some create that unnecessary amount of shine, or simply make the skin too oily. As well as causing breakouts, it can be annoying when you’ve just spent money on a brand new product. It can be hard to find the balance between excess oil and having skin that glows. Since January, I have been on the hunt for products that give that natural “glow” without causing a break out or too much oil.
So, what do we mean when we say “glow”? To me, glowing skin means a healthy, hydrated look. Skin doesn’t have to be perfect or flawless to appear healthy. Looking brighter and more radiant really helps to combat a tired appearance. I’m quite fussy with what I put on my face, so I’m so excited to actually have a list of products that work for me.
The packaging on this product is quite ambiguous. “Glycolic liquid glow” isn’t something we search into google often. My first thoughts of this were, “what do I do with this?” and “what actually is liquid glow?” My curiosity won, and I’m glad it did.
Exfoliators have never been something I’ve looked for in shops. However, the Nip + Fab exfoliator has opened me up to a world of exfoliators, and I can’t wait to try more. This product is an exfoliator, designed to unclog your pores and even your complexion. It refines and brightens your skin. This product really does create a brighter complexion. My favourite thing about it is that it can make you appear much awake on a morning.
When to Use: I use this every morning after cleansing. I’m guilty of using my hands for this, however it is recommended for use with a cotton pad.
There are so many body tanning products around. However, it’s such a struggle to find a product for the face. This is a gradual face tan I can use without a horror streak or looking like I’ve used gravy. Coming from someone who’s a lot of tan disasters, this stuff is smooth. For my skin tone, I use the light/medium colour. St Tropez is a brand that is highly trusted, and I stand by them with this product.
When to Use it: This product is designed as an everyday face cream. However, I recommend using the evening before whenever you want a subtle glow. For a big event or trip away, use it up to 3 nights before for a gradual build up.
You know those face masks that hurt to remove and feel like sellotape on the face? This is not one of them. I love the way this Tea Tree mask feels on my skin during use. It’s almost like you can feel it doing it’s work. Your face feels cool and refreshed during use, almost like when you walk into air conditioning in a hot country. When you take it off, your skin feels so light and soft.
When to Use it: I like to use this product on evenings when I can relax in a bath or read a book. I’d recommend using this up to 3 times a week.
This. Is. Worth. It. It is by far my favourite moisturiser, as it really doesn’t make skin excessively oily. It is one of the Body Shop’s old favourites and is one of their trademark products. For me, this moisturiser gets the balance right. The product is formulated with vitamin E, plumping hyaluronic acid and wheatgerm oil. My skin doesn’t feel greasy or appear too shiny, which is why this is a winner for me. This is suitable for all skin types, however is very rich so I would recommend starting small to find the right amount for you.
When to Use it: Use this after a toner for soft and hydrated skin. Be diligent about the amount you use, as the tub is quite small.
